This year, we’ve produced two separate screen-prints for the Scottish Arts Council’s Showcasing Scotland gigs at SXSW. The Arts Council funds and supports some of the best Scottish acts to travel across to the States and play at two showcase gigs at the prestigious music festival in Austin, TEXAS – with one during the day and the other an evening gig.
Design-wise we went for a cross-Atlantic travel/Scottish theme with colourways to reflect the day and night time gigs. Each print has a colour blend for the run with the sky and band-names, and we experimented with double hit colours for both the violet and the black areas. And printing duties on the Latitude print were ably assisted by Stuart Thomas from the Scottish Arts Council.

We’ve just recently completed an edition of prints for the Frightened Rabbit Scottish tour dates, which will be on-sale at each of the gigs (except Fort William… not enough time to get them ready for that one, sorry). We’re really pleased with this screen-print – which along with the Idlewild ‘Readers & Writers’ poster, represents our best printed work done to date. They’re rather lovely we must admit.
The design work on this is by FR’s Scott Hutchison, along with Dave Thomas at FatCat Records.

We’ve just finished working on two prints for Idlewild’s upcoming UK tour promoting their rather wonderful new album – ‘Post Electric Blues’.
Both the prints will be available from the start of the 18 date tour – with one edition of 126 prints themed from new single ‘Readers & Writers’ and another edition of 112 prints taking it’s visual cue from the track ‘Take Me Back in Time’.
Both are 3 colour 11″ x 24′ screen prints on heavy 270gsm textured board, with ‘Readers’ also being on a coloured stock.

After finishing the final prints run just the day before The Breeders first night at King Tuts in Glasgow, it was great to see the prints selling so well over both nights.
With the band announcing from stage that they were all signing the prints after each of the shows, we were delighted to have been involved in creating something special for these two gigs – so a big thanks to Kim, Kelley and the rest of the band – along with everyone at King Tuts who helped make it happen.

Idlwild are playing each of their albums in order of release over 5 consecutive nights in King Tuts, Glasgow. To celebrate these very special gigs, a series of five limited edition screen printed posters have been especially commissioned by the band, with a different poster designed and hand-printed by Handcooked for each night.
These unique 9″ x 24″ screen prints will be individually numbered and only 50 of each poster will be made available.
The posters will be on sale at the gigs over the five nights at Tuts at £12.00 each, with all five posters sold as a complete set for £50.00. All posters will be sold with poster tubes included in the price.
